Jim Taliaferro Community Mental Health Center in Altus, OK is currently recruiting Recovery Support Specialists to join our Adult and Children’s Outpatient Departments. In this role, you will play a crucial part in helping individuals regain control of their lives and navigate their recovery processes.

As a Recovery Support Specialist, you will assist consumers in developing the skills they need to manage their mental health and substance use recovery, while providing ongoing support and encouragement. This position requires an individual with a high level of professionalism, ethics, and the ability to build positive, respectful relationships with both staff and consumers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Recovery: Assist consumers in their recovery journey by offering guidance and encouragement as they work toward regaining control of their lives.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with individuals in the Adult and Children’s Outpatient Departments, providing essential support to both staff and consumers.
  • Professional Interactions: Maintain a high standard of professionalism and ethics in all interactions with ODMHSAS staff and facility consumers.
  • Assist with Recovery Planning: Help facilitate the development and implementation of recovery plans, ensuring consumers are supported throughout their process.

Job Type/Salary:

  • ​Sr. Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist: $38,000 plus benefits!

  • Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist: $34,500 plus benefits!

  • Recovery Support Specialist: $30,000 plus benefits!

Minimum Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Sr. Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist: This position requires that the application be currently certified as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist, high school diploma or GED, demonstrates personal knowledge in advocacy in recovery, and two years of PRSS experience. 

  • Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist: This position requires that the application be currently certified as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist, high school diploma or GED, and demonstrates personal knowledge in advocacy in recovery. 

  • Recovery Support Specialist: This position requires a high school diploma or GED, demonstrates personal knowledge or advocacy in recovery, and the ability to become a Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist.

About us: Jim Taliaferro Community Mental Health Center in Lawton, Altus and Duncan, OK is a community-based center with a primary focus on mental health and substance abuse treatment. The inpatient and outpatient services they provide include special groups and programs for adolescents, persons with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, seniors and older adults, women, men, and criminal justice groups.

THIS AGENCY REQUIRES COVERAGE 24 HOURS, 7 DAYS PER WEEK. WORK HOURS AND LOCATION MAY VARY DEPENDING ON BUSINESS NECESSITY. EMPLOYEES MAY BE REQUIRED TO WORK WEEKENDS AND OVERTIME.
