About the Position: Seeking recovery-minded people who want to work in community mental health. This position is responsible for providing emotional support, advocacy and 24 hour crisis intervention for adults at the Urgent Recovery Center at Jim Taliaferro Community Mental Health Center in Lawton, OK.  Recovery Support Specialists are vital members of the behavioral health team. Our URC is a place of stabilization providing an emergency assessment and intensive support for adults experiencing a mental health or substance abuse crisis; either at the facility or responding to a crisis call in the community. With a goal of resolving the immediate crisis and stabilizing at the lowest level possible, the URC is staffed 24/7/365 with a multidisciplinary team of a prescriber, nurse, licensed behavioral health practitioner, and recovery support specialists with lived experience. 

Job Type/Salary:

  • Salary: 
    • Senior Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist: $38,000.00 ($18.26/hr) plus benefits!
    • Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist: $34,500.00 ($16.58/hr) plus benefits!
    • Recovery Support Specialist: $30,000.00 ($14.42/hr) plus benefits!
    • All shifts have openings
  • FLSA Status: Nonexempt

Additional Compensation: Along with our great benefits we also offer addition compensation for working outside of normal business hours! These shift differentials are stacked on top of your base pay wen working evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays. 

Recovery Support Specialist also receive an extra $1 per hour shift pay, for any shift worked! That can be stacked on top of the Evening/Weekend pay too.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Sr. Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist: This position requires that the application be currently certified as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist, high school diploma or GED, demonstrates personal knowledge in advocacy in recovery, and two years of PRSS experience.
  • Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist: This position requires that the application be currently certified as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist, high school diploma or GED, and demonstrates personal knowledge in advocacy in recovery. 
  • Recovery Support Specialist: This position requires a high school diploma or GED, demonstrates personal knowledge or advocacy in recovery, and the ability to become a Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist.
  • Possess a strong commitment to patient well-being and safety.
  • Must believe that recovery is possible!

Special Requirements:

  • Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license.

About us: Jim Taliaferro Community Mental Health Center in Lawton, OK is a community-based center with a primary focus on mental health and substance abuse treatment. The inpatient and outpatient services they provide include special groups and programs for adolescents, persons with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, seniors and older adults, women, men, and criminal justice groups.

THIS AGENCY REQUIRES COVERAGE 24 HOURS, 7 DAYS PER WEEK. WORK HOURS AND LOCATION MAY VARY DEPENDING ON BUSINESS NECESSITY. EMPLOYEES MAY BE REQUIRED TO WORK WEEKENDS AND OVERTIME.
