The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) is the State’s statutory authority responsible for prevention, treatment and recovery from mental illness, substance abuse and addictive disorders. In addition, ODMHSAS provides prevention services at the state and local levels, in partnership with area health providers, schools, law enforcement, veteran’s groups and other community stakeholders.  ODMHSAS manages the state’s behavioral health Medicaid services, and has rule-making responsibility for specific statutory certification processes (certifying approximately 3,300 treatment providers, organizations and individuals, throughout the state).

About the Position: This position works under the Mental Health Consultant Supervisor and will be responsible for case consultation regarding infants, children, youth, and families involved with Oklahoma Department of Human Services, Child Welfare System. The incumbent for this position will provide support and make recommendations to child welfare staff for the purpose of positively impacting the social, mental, and emotional well-being of children in state’s custody.

This position is funded through a contract with DHS and is contingent upon the availability of funding. Continued employment is dependent on the continuation of funding.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, human relations, clinical/direct practice social work, or a closely related field which must include one semester of at least three hundred hours of applied clinical practicum in psychology or counseling,
Plus two years of post-master’s experience providing professional counseling services; and must have a passing score on the National Counselor Examination for Licensure and Certification or hold a current license as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Behavior Practitioner (LBP), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NSCP); Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA),
Or a doctorate in psychology or education with a specialty in clinical, counseling, educational, developmental or school psychology, including one academic year of full time pre-doctoral internship from an accredited program listed by the American Psychological Association at the time of completion.
Preference may be given to candidates who have previous experience working with child welfare.
