The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) is the State’s statutory authority responsible for prevention, treatment and recovery from mental illness, substance abuse and addictive disorders. In addition, ODMHSAS provides prevention services at the state and local levels, in partnership with area health providers, schools, law enforcement, veteran’s groups and other community stakeholders.  ODMHSAS manages the state’s behavioral health Medicaid services, and has rule-making responsibility for specific statutory certification processes (certifying approximately 3,300 treatment providers, organizations and individuals, throughout the state).

Job Opportunity: Food Service Specialist
Jim Taliaferro Community Mental Health Center is seeking a full-time Food Service Specialist who enjoys working in the kitchen! This role involves handling, preparing, cooking, and serving food to our consumers while maintaining a clean and sanitary workspace.

Job Details:

Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: Level I: $30,500.00 per year ($14.66/hour) Level II: $32,500.00 per year ($15.63 hour) + shift differentials & benefits allowance
Schedule: Varies based on facility needs
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Qualifications & Requirements:

Level I: No prior experience or education required
Level II: one year of experience in a commercial or institutional food service or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of vocational or technical school training in food preparation for the required experience.
Commitment to patient well-being and safety
Belief in the possibility of recovery
Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 25 lbs
Valid driver’s license for job-related travel
Must pass a physical examination and drug screening (for safety-sensitive roles)

Jim Taliaferro Community Mental Health Center in Lawton, OK is a community-based center with a primary focus on mental health and substance abuse treatment. The inpatient and outpatient services they provide include special groups and programs for adolescents, persons with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, seniors and older adults, women, men, and criminal justice groups.
